Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity
-
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity has already raised over £110,000 through eBay for Charity. Almost all of the funds have come through community sellers and third parties such as Talkback Thames' WAGS’ Boutique TV show.
-
In 2005, the Sun encouraged its readers to sell unwanted Christmas presents for the charity. It kicked off the process with an auction of celebrity items, raising nearly £9,000. Since then, over 275 sellers have made donations, with the top givers making over 100 donations each.
- The programme took off when Bows, a WAGS’ Boutique, chose to support Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity. Selling clothes from its shop on the TV show, Bows raised over £95,000 for the charity.

Alex Brown, marketing manager at the charity, says:
- “The eBay for Charity programme gives our supporters a clear and simple way of working with us. It also makes sure our charity name is secured within eBay which means our brand is protected, so we don’t need to enter into arrangements with every individual seller.
We’ve been lucky enough to have some high profile partners who have encouraged people to sell items for us. So far, we have focused on helping sellers through the process. eBay for Charity is a useful and hassle-free part of our fundraising mix.”
- What Charities Say
"Besides the new funds raised through our eBay uction, the profile of the charity has been raised immeasurably through eBay for Charity. We're still riding the wave!" — Claire Newman, Development Office, Books Abroad
