“The travel wallet campaign we held on eBay for Charity was hugely successful because it really met the expectations of our supporters – and helped us attract more. - Working with Munro & Forster we approached 11 artists and designers, each one generously donated a wonderful design that could be used on the wallets. From Katherine Hamnett and Gharani Strok to Frost and French, each of the designs stood out as unique and highly desirable.
- We then promoted the wallets through the eBay for Charity programme, linking to it from our own website and sending out press releases to the media about our online auction.
- The wallets proved to be an instant hit, far beyond our expectations. From the initial press launch we saw sales of the wallets go from 10, to 20 to hundreds in a matter of days on the eBay for Charity website.
- We sold over 2000 wallets in a relatively short period of time and were amazed at the response from the public. Many people were buying more than one each time, and considering we were selling the wallets for nearly £5 each, we were extremely grateful for the funds it raised.
- With over £10,000 income raised, that is equivalent to helping us irrigate 500 farmers’ fields or maintain over 130 wells in places where clean water is hard to come by”
